Sean King
Donation protected
Hi, my name is Mary and I am raising funds to pay for my brother Sean King’s final expenses. I received news today that his brain activity is getting worse and he won’t make it. There is no life insurance in place to give Sean a funeral or a burial. I’ll be traveling to Kentucky this week and he will be taken off the ventilator and made comfortable to pass away peacefully. This fundraiser will pay for his funeral, casket, burial and a cemetery plot.
Sean was born in 1968 and received a birth injury. He was diagnosed with cerebral palsy and epilepsy as a baby. Doctors told his parents that he wasn’t expected to walk or do much of anything. He surpassed expectations and was able to walk!
Unfortunately Sean has not had an easy life. The parts of his brain that controlled speech were injured at birth and he was never verbal. He could motion and say just a handful of words that only family could really understand. His epilepsy caused a life of seizures which led to needing a helmet and eventually left him wheel chair bound. He battled colon cancer three times and finally his colon had to be removed. Sean has a genetic marker for the hereditary type of colon cancer. After his colon was removed he spent a year in a nursing home. Sean was placed in a private home with a caretaker that would be able to take care of Sean’s medical needs. Unfortunately his care was not what it should have been. Sean became sick and wasn’t given the proper medical attention that he needed. He was taken to Saint Mary & Elizabeth hospital with pneumonia, unitary tract infection and sepsis. He was placed on a ventilator because he was having trouble breathing. After being placed on a ventilator Sean has continued to become weaker and decline. Unfortunately this has caused further brain injury and his pupils are not dilating to light which means his brain isn’t functioning.
Funeral services will be through Newcomer Funeral Home in Louisville Kentucky. Details will be shared at a later date.
