just an update to the events that took place and a more specific breakdown of how it all went down on Sunday.
Joe was working out in the yard when he took a very bad pain to his head. After three hours of trying to get rid of his “ headache” he called for help. Danielle was at her baby shower at the time and on the way home called to talk to joe. His sister answered and told her that the ambulance was on its way and that Joe needed help. After being taken to Cobequid it was a diagnosed brain bleed likely caused by aneurysm. He was immediately transferred to the QE for further investigation and surgery (this is what they were told at the time).
Fast forward a few days. He has spent the past 5 days in the IMCU and has hadtwo CT scans, an MRI and an angiogram to try to detect the aneurysm or cause of the bleed. He will go for another angiogram on Monday as they have yet to find the definitive source of the bleed.
Joe has been in a LOT of pain. The past few days Danielle was able to get him up for a few short walks around the hospital. He was very weak and walking was hard but there have been improvements over the past day.
Joe received news that recovery from any sort of brain bleed could be 6 months to a year. Danielle and Joe have their first baby together due in September and Joe has an 8 year old beautiful daughter as well. His daughter thankfully is unaware of what has been going on with her dad at this point as she has been staying with her grandparents in NB.
Norman, the family dog, has also faced some trauma over the past week. He was neutered on Thursday and needed to be kept calm. He witnessed this happen to his “daddy” on Sunday and ended up with a severe infection. Norman tried to get help for Joe. He barked and jumped at the doors and windows and comforted Joe and barked some more...this activity and stress likely led to the infection (if not the cause, definitely had something to do with it). He has spent the last week in the vet and is being monitored closely. Norman’s vet bills have jumped rapidly during the past week- adding more stress to the situation.
Danielle starts her maternity leave in a few weeks and Joe’s benefit situation is currently being looked into (not sure if or what he has as he started a on. new job recently and thinks he remembers opting out).
Neither one of them are comfortable accepting help but know that they unfortunately need it.
Danielle is a great teacher who teaches at Caudle Park Elementary. Let us help raise some funds to help take the stress off this family.
Any questions please try and refrain form bombarding the family at this time we will keep you all updated here as this go on.
