Hello, my name is Steve Thompson and I'm Chandyn Jon Thompson's Uncle. Unfortunately, Chandyn has developed complications associated with a congenital issue that had been undiagnosed until Thursday April 7th, 2016. While on vacation in Florida an AVM, ArterioVeinousMalformation, suddenly began leaking near his Cerebellum, in his brain. He was rushed to the hospital, then transferred by helicopter to another where he underwent a several hour surgery to relieve pressure and stop the bleeding.
Your prayers and Gods graces have seen him through the most serious threat, but he will need more of the former and a continuation of the latter to recover completely. Anyone who has met Chandyn immediately realizes he has an iron will and is as determined as they come, he will need both of these traits, as he faces an arduous journey filled with many unknowns. We are certain he will recover completely, and if there are setbacks, we remain optimistic that they will only be temporary.
Chandyn's mother, Randi, sent out inspirational words right after Chandyn's surgery and I wanted to include some of them to help inspire family and friends: "We are filled with so much love and faith for our son. We watch him improve and fight to remain himself. We pray for God to guide us thru our explanation of what has happened to C.J. We are bonded tightly with our parents and siblings as it will take all of us supporting one another to cope with the days ahead and our little guys recovery. We trust in the path that God is taking us. Love you all."
In order for Chandyn and our family to begin healing we need to get him home. The doctors have advised us that we will need an "air ambulance" to safely transport C.J. back to Michigan so he can begin his journey to recovery. Insurance will not pay for it. We've set up this GoFundMe account to help offset the extensive medical costs associated with the treatment and recovery from this type of diagnosis. So many people have called, or written, and asked what they can do to help. We are asking family and friends, who wish, to donate to this account to help us get Chandyn home.
