Jade's Road to Recovery

We're reaching out on behalf of Jade Rocca, the vibrant soul behind Blooming Forward. A tragic and unexpected event recently impacted Jade's life, and we wanted to share her story and ask for your support.

This past Thursday, after working with her friends at TBD, Jade returned home, ready to wind down with her friend Lorenzo. As they shared a casual meal and kicked back with some Netflix, life threw them a curveball, changing their lives forever. Lorenzo's scooter, which had been charging in the corner, began making a hissing sound and suddenly exploded in the living room just a foot away from them. Within moments, Jade's home was engulfed in smoke and flames.

Jade's beloved pugs, Jack and Opal, and Lorenzo's Chihuahua, Peetree, were caught in the middle of this nightmare. Their sanctuary had instantly become a danger zone. Fearfully, they huddled together in the bedroom, the only refuge amidst the blazing chaos, while they screamed for help.

Imagine the scene: a second-story apartment with no fire escape, a living room full of smoke and fire, and the dogs whimpering in fear. Without access to their phones, they screamed for help outside the bedroom window. Neighbors anxiously gathered beneath the window facing a dark alley, ready to catch Jade, Lorenzo, and the terrified pups as they somehow managed to climb down. Their narrow escape, although successful, was just the beginning of a difficult journey.

The first responders arrived swiftly, rushing Jade and Lorenzo to the hospital. While Lorenzo was lucky to escape with minor injuries, Jade wasn't as fortunate. She sustained severe burns across her face, neck, and arms. As you can see in the pictures, her injuries are severe. Now, Jade is facing a long, painful recovery process that requires immeasurable strength.

The physical pain, though unbearable, is just one part of the equation. Jade's apartment, her cherished space filled with memories and treasured belongings, is now a burnt shell. The apartment has been completely destroyed and will require full renovation and temporary relocation. Her personal belongings were also destroyed either by the explosion directly, the fire, or smoke damage. Jade is unable to work for the foreseeable months due to the complete burning of both arms, neck, and face. Aside from the extreme physical and emotional pain that comes with a tragedy like this, she now faces a financial hardship that nothing could have prepared her for.

Jade has always been a beacon of positivity, and connected to her spirituality. She knows the universe works in mysterious ways and everything happens for a reason.

We're sharing her story because she needs our help now more than ever. Any contribution you can make, no matter how small, would mean the world to Jade.
