Help save Ahmeds remaining living family

Donation protected

My dear friends,

My name is Ahmed Al-Mamlouk and I recently lost my wife and four children when our home was targeted by an Israeli airstrike in northern Gaza.

I am now pleading to you to help save my remaining family, but my sisters Eslam, Abeer and Haneen are living in the refugee camp in Nuseirat, along with their children Maryam, Sami, Maria and Alaa. Alaa is only one month old and was born prematurely, as his mother Eslam suffered a lot of anxiety due to the war. I also have two sisters Eeman and Amane that live in Rafah and my parents and my brother live in Khan Younis.

They are in dire need of food, clean water, medicine, milk for the baby and proper tents for shelter. The situation in the camp has become extremely difficult, high temperatures and poor sanitation is causing diseases to spread and the children wake up with insect bites.

  • Video sent by my sister Abeer with bombs in close proximity.

As I am writing this, they are attacking Nuseirat, and my sisters are sending me videos daily of explosions raining around them in the camps. The fundraiser can't save them from the bombs, but at least it will keep them from starving. I have suffered great loss, and I am terrified that something will happen to them. Eventually the plan is to help them evacuate Gaza and create a better life for them and their children.

  • The home of my sister Abeer. All members of my family have lost their homes.

Since I am asking for your help, it's important for me to be trustworthy and transparent in who I am and how the funds will be used. Here is a little background story.

On the night of the 7th December 2023 my home was bombed and not only did I lose my wife Asmaa and four children but my wife's brother Reefat Alareer and his family were also living with us after the war started. Reefat was a known professor, writer and activist and he wrote the poem “If I must die”, which has now become known all over the world.

We are convinced that Reefat became a target for the Israeli military shortly after an interview he did with the BBC, where he openly accused the Israeli government of committing genocide. As he was a credible spokesperson that could convey the Palestinian plight in excellent English, they saw him as a threat to their narrative. My family, Refaat, his brother Salah were all killed in this attack, as martyrs of the truth. Now, many months later the world is beginning to acknowledge that Reefat was right, we are indeed facing extermination.

My children who lost their lives in the bombing:

You might be asking yourself why I am still alive? In the 2014 war, a missile hit our previous house but my family thankfully survived. As we walked through the rubble of our neighborhood, with the dead bodies of families all around us, I knew I had to leave Gaza and find a safer place to raise my children. As soon as I had built them a new home I left, but the journey was not easy. As I was crossing to Europe, I was arrested by border police several times, and was beaten, tortured and sometimes attacked by dogs. I did however not give up and even though it was tough, I have also been met with kindness and made many good friends on the way.

I finally ended up in Iceland, where I am now seeking asylum, but my status makes it impossible for me to work for money.

You can watch a recent interview with me on the Icelandic national television channel RÚV here, where I speak about my sister and her baby.

Me and my family have lived our lives in dignity and self- respect, and asking for help is not easy for me. It is therefore with some shame but also deep gratitude that I ask you to help my family. If you are not able to give I would be so grateful if you could share this with your friends and family. There are no words for what this means to me, I thank you from the bottom of my heart.

Sincerely,

Your friend Ahmed Almamlouk

FUNDS

Here is a breakdown of how the funds will be used, prioritized in the order that follows:

$12.000 - Food, water, medicine, diapers, clothes etc.
There is some aid coming into Gaza now and then, but this is far from enough. Food prices have skyrocketed and gone up by around 5000% or more in many cases.

This should be able to secure necessities for the 19 members of my family for the coming months.

$3000- Tents
The current price of a tent ranges from $700- $1000 each. We need three tents, one in Rafah, one in Khan Younis and one in Nuseirat, as my family is spread across different areas in Gaza.

$30000- Evacuation of my sisters Eslam and Abeer, their husbands and their children.
The Rafah crossing is currently closed, but before the current siege, the price of evacuation for one individual was minimum $5000 for each adult and around $2500 for children. An opening out of Gaza will happen sooner or later, and then it's important to be ready. Nobody knows what the future entails, but if the borders don't open, the money will be used to rebuild their homes inside Gaza.

Costs in total:
$45000
