Timmy's Medical Fund

Hello All.  My roommate and one of my BFF's of over 30 years, Tim Johnson (Timmy as we all call him) was diagnosed with prostate cancer this past summer. He is 51 years old, pretty young for this diagnosis.  He had been with his company for a bit under a year when he was diagnosed. At this time he disclosed his diagnosis to his bosses.  We went through all the doctor's appointments trying to determine the best course of treatment for him. He arrived at the decision that a prostatectomy (surgical removal of the prostate) would be the best solution for him because of his family history (2 siblings) with cancer. Once he arrived at this decision he went ahead on September 7th and scheduled the surgery for October 18th.  On Friday September 8th he went to work and informed his superiors when his surgery was scheduled and informed them that he would need several weeks off after surgery to recuperate. Shortly thereafter (within 30 minutes) his bosses came into his office and let him go. They claimed they could no longer afford his salary as the only HR professional in the company.  Because his company let him go at the beginning of September, his medical insurance ran out at the end of that month. His surgery is the middle of October.  I am hoping to raise enough money to help with Tim's medical expenses, surgery, Cobra and living expenses until he has recovered from surgery and can dedicate himself to finding employment again.
