Vigilante: 30 day book sale

Donation protected
TL;DR: If you want to buy my book, it's $15 (some people are paying more, I don't know why, but it's ok!) and send shipping info to vigilante@molitor-design.com, done! There are some details and variations below, but that's the basics. Sale ends on or around December 18.

I've been making photobooks for a while now. Handmade and print-on-demand. This one's a print-on-demand, and I want to sell 100 of them.

This is my latest book, or zine, or whatever it is. It's a 96 page softcover print-on-demand book, 6" wide and 9" high. Black and white photos, some text. Is that a zine, or a book?

There's a preview you can admire on blurb here:

And I made a video to sell it:

The content documents a project I made in my neighborhood, in which I posted more or less nonsensical flyers on telephone poles, and people interacted with them in ways that I found unexpected. This book tells you about it, and lets you kind of vicariously re-live the project.

There's an essay from Jonathan Blaustein in it, as well! It's excellent, he gets it!

Please note: this sale is for buyers in the USA and Canada only, I'm not ready to deal with international shipping yet. See the note at the end if you're outside my zone! You can still have a book!

This is my first attempt to fundraise a pre-sale of books. As a rule, I am not comfortable making money on my art. My aim is to rather to stay out of the way of people who are trying to make a living at this game. My goal is: to pay my immediate expenses of printing and mailing books, and then to donate any leftover cash to a local arts organization here in town:

Allied Arts of Whatcom County .

Let's be clear, this is not a fundraiser as such, I am selling books and declining to take a profit. If you really just want to donate some money to someplace, just go ahead and donate it. But still, I want to motivate you to donate to your own local arts groups. As such, I have devised these tiers of donation, either of which will entitle you to receive a copy of Vigilante

$1, and donate something like $25 or 2 hours of time, or some combination,
to your own local arts group (you choose). This offer only open to the
first 20 takers please! I will try to monitor and update this text at
the right time. Please leave a note in a comment attesting that you
are donating! Tell your story, or not, as you choose. But please do
           say that you did.

$15 or more, I'll just send you a book. If you want more than one book donate
an appropriate multiple of $15 and please note a note in a comment.

I estimate my cost to print and ship a book at something like $12 to $14 more or less, so I should break even with a little left over at the $15 mark. The reason I am limiting the $1 books to 20 copies is simply to limit my exposure. Those will each subtract $11 to $13 from the ledger so I don't want to end up holding a huge bag, know what I mean?

Profits will be calculated by adding up the cost of printing and mailing ALL the books that get pre-sold, and subtracting that from the sum total of all money raised, and that goes the Allied Arts. Hopefully it's a positive number.

Please DO NOT donate here if you don't want a book. Just give to Allied Arts, or your own local group, directly.

TIMELINE: As of Nov 16 the second and hopefully final) is being shipped from Blurb. I expect to, worst case, have a final version of the book prepared and ready to print by the end of November. My plan is to keep this sale open until mid-December, and to "press print" at that time. Books should arrive at our Shipping and Handling Facility, my house, by early January and I'll plan to ship books in the second or third week on Jan, 2022.

SHIPPING: Please send shipping information to vigilante@molitor-design.com. Of course, you can send any further questions there as well, or just leave a comment on this page.

INTERNATIONAL BUYERS: Since this book is already a blurb project, I think what I will do for international buyers is simply put the book up for general sale on blurb in a few weeks time. If you buy it direct from Blurb, they will print it on the right continent and ship it directly to you which works out, well, if not cheaper at least more sensible. I could guess at international shipping rates, or overcharge you a bunch, but the via-blurb method probably works better, and maybe even faster.
