Clementine's Cancer Fund

This is the story of a dog who just needs a break. You see, Clementine has been through a lot. Where do we begin... Well, about two years ago my wife and I decided we wanted to rescue a dog and give it the best life we could. In the past, we looked to breeders to buy a dog. But this time we really wanted to do the right thing. Since we already had Harry, our Old English Sheepdog, we decided we'd try to find another Old English to rescue. We'd considered other dogs, but we had our hearts set on another OES. After a few months of looking, an old friend at North Shore Animal league tipped us off on Clementine,  who they had just rescued from a puppy mill in Missouri.  We immediately jumped right in the car the next day and drove up to Long Island to meet her. She was an angel and we fell in love instantly. However, it wasn't until we heard the whole story that we realized how much we wanted to save her and give her a new life.

Clementine has spent most of her life in a puppy mill, living in a cage and basically being a puppy making machine for close to 8 years. Her paws are permanently deformed from living in a cage most of her life. She can walk fine but does not have the same agility as a dog who was much luckier than her.  We couldn't believe how sweet and loving this dog was after living through such a cruel existence. We were determined to take her in and give her the love and care she missed all those years.  The last 2 years with Clementine have been an absolute joy. She is the happiest and most loving dog I have ever known. She has blended right into the family and we could not be more proud of her.

Unfortunately, last week we found out that our little angel has lung cancer. We are crushed.  Here we finally give a second chance to this beautiful dog and now this?! After a few vet visits and weighing our options, we have decided we're going to do whatever we can to save her. At the moment, this is going to require surgery to remove the cancerous tumor. According to the surgeon, the outcome is very positive. As you know, this can be costly.  Our hope is that some of our friends and family may find Clementines story worthy of a donation to help us keep her around a little longer to enjoy the life she deserves.

Thank you & Happy Holidays!
