Jenny’s Fight Against Cancer

Jenny Allen-Kennedy is originally a Poteau native who graduated in 2002. She is married and just celebrated 10 years of marriage to her wonderful husband. She also has a 17 year old son, and they live in Monticello Arkansas (Southeast Arkansas).

Jenny was first diagnosed with Stage 4 Cervical Cancer in 2020 at the age of 37. When she was first was diagnosed, she went through over 20 rounds of chemotherapy and 5 months of radiation 5 days a week. She had to move to Little Rock so that she could get treatments every day, traveling home each weekend to return to her family.

Chemo and radiation take a harsh toll on the body, and Jenny has gone through so much in this arena. She has suffered with losing some of her teeth as well as her hair. She wanted to protect her son as much as she could, so he went to stay with her parents, and this will be the plan for her next treatment regimen.

Jenny’s husband had to quit working and become her caregiver, so you can imagine the expenses that this family has accrued. Jenny does have a strong family support system, but traveling for them all becomes overwhelming.

After such rigorous treatment, Jenny was elated to learn that her cancer went into remission! She and her family have enjoyed nearly two years of recovering from such a life changing event. However, recently Jenny received the news that her cancer has returned. Soon she will once again step into the fight for her life.
