Elijah’s celebration of Life

Hi my name is Shannon Shea , I am the nurse to this beautiful boy Elijah in the picture . Elijah AKA “Cheeks “ is 8 yrs old and was born with CMV along with other disabilities . Drs told mom ( Dayna ) that he would not survive a month let alone the beautiful 8 almost 9 yrs we’ve had with him , this boy is the definition of a fighter !! I’ve had the honor to care for him and get it know the family and they are like my own . Although he has beat so many odds , attended school with other children like him , learned how to communicate with switches with the help of speech therapist , used his hands and Practicing standing with OT and PT it is with a very heavy and sad heart that I say our sweet boy cheeks is getting tired of fighting the fight and we are told we are on our last moments maybe days with him . Elijah has what’s called microcephaly which is a condition in which a child brain is much smaller than expected . This condition makes it difficult for his brain to process oxygen the way a normal brain would this is the battle Elijah has been fighting for a month and we are at the end . Dayna Elijah’s mother has devoted the last 9 yrs ( his birthday 12/31/12 ) to her son as a single mother . She has played so many roles in his life , Mother , nurse , pharmacist , neurologist she hasn’t stopped fighting for him since day one when most didn’t see a chance . With that being said she would like to have a wonderful celebration of his life . Unfortunately money is tight for her and so I’d like to ask for donations to make a day special for Elijah so everyone can take the time to share stories and maybe heal a little from a big loss so many of us with feel .
