A Brother’s Fundraiser For A Place For Friends
Tax deductible
My name is Austin Shenton and my brother Ian is a long-time member of the Max Higbee Center. I've watched the Max Higbee Center change my brother’s life and give much needed respite support to my parents. The Max Higbee Center means so much to my family and our community. I am excited to join the effort to help the Center get back to full strength after the impact of the pandemic. Our goal is to reach a broad audience and raise much needed funds for an organization that is a valuable resource for so many people in our community.
The Max Higbee Center supports teens and adults with developmental disabilities, and The Center provides social, recreational, and learning opportunities for its members. The MHC works tirelessly to alleviate some of the challenges faced by its members. Challenges, that include isolation, have been especially pronounced during the pandemic. But the staff and administration has remained vigilant and creative in their efforts to keep its members connected during these difficult times.
The staff and volunteers at the Max Higbee Center are dedicated to promoting inclusion and respect and allowing members to live their least restrictive lives. The Center also provides much needed respite for parents and guardians. The Max Higbee Center has helped my brother be more connected to his community and continue to develop his independence. My brother especially appreciates the friendships he has made and the fun activities that are available to him. The staff creates an environment of caring, support, fun and a place where everyone knows they belong and are valued. The Max Higbee Center truly is “A Place for Friends”.
Please consider helping this valuable community resource, if you can. You can help be the vessel that helps us continue to build community and provide crucial support for our members and their families. And from all of us at The Max Higbee Center, our heartfelt thanks!
