Help me build the House of Hope Recovery Center
Donation protected
My name is Marcela Marañon. I first fell in love with Tanzania when I traveled there to climb Mount Kilimanjaro in 2020. While I was there, I learned much about the friendly people and fascinating culture of Tanzania. But as a wheelchair user, I was particularly struck by the lack of medical facilities and education for children with disabilities.
In Haydom a small village in Tanzania, that I have just recently visited, many of these children can be operated successfully at Haydom hospital. Together with the local staff, the NGO Haydom-Friends e.V and in cooperation with local partners they receive lifelong therapy and follow up care through the team.
Since the program has been started in 2012, there is a total number of more than 80 children in regular follow up. Most of the kids lack mobility devices like wheelchairs that the parents cannot afford but that are required to start school.
Many of the children and their parents are excluded from village communities due to their disability. There is a high level of communal stigmatization and many of those children are denied education and schooling. The children lack a place where they can grow up sheltered , loved and receive education.
Together with the Haydom-Team, Haydom-Friends e.V. I want to join forces to create a place were those children and their families can get the fair start they deserve.
We want to build a House of Hope, a centre of Recovery, where kids and their parents can find necessary further treatment, education and shelter after their time spent in the hospital. Children should be able to grow up without beeing stigmatized and excluded. They should have the chance to thrive and grow and play, feeling unconditionally loved and accepted.
Therefore the House of Hope will be more than just a Medical Recovery Centre. It will give space for playing, give a chance for parents to socialize and support each other and a place to learn about the special needs of their kids.
I want to get involved, take responsibility, not only because I know what it means to wake up every morning meeting all of those daily obstacles you are facing as a person with special needs.
I am asking you to embark with me on that meaningful and beautiful new journey of mine. I need your help to raise the funding goal in order to start with the building process. Already the plot has been bought, the architectual sketch is finished, now we need funds for building material and the first foundation of the House.
All funds will be straight directed to the Haydom Hospital and its team in order to continue with the building process. I will keep you updated on the building process as soon as we have collected enough to start the construction.
There is an African poverb that sais, if you want to go fast than go alone, if you want to go far than go with friends! Please support that truly meaningful initiative with your donation and follow us on that beautiful journey to bring those children a real chance in life and to help us reach our funding goal.
Thanks for your help,
Marcela.
