A1 Comms Fundraiser for Alfreton Park School
Donation protected
Our Partnership
Last year, we at A1 Comms announced our partnership with Alfreton Park School – a local school in our community that supports students with a diverse range of complex special educational needs.
The money we raise can make a real difference to the everyday lives of the pupils and staff at Alfreton Park School. And what's more, the company will match every penny we raise towards this fantastic cause.
Upcoming Fundraising Events
With all the big events and fundraising activities going on, it's been incredibly busy at A1 Comms this year – but we're not planning on stopping just yet!
Though we don't have any upcoming fundraising on the cards right now, with October and Halloween on the horizon, we reckon we'll start seeing some spooky events any day now – tis the season, after all!
In the meantime, we're still open to donations
Past Fundraising Events
On Sunday the 17th of September, our brilliant B2B Sales Director Tonia Baldwin organised what may have been the most epic Barbie Charity Dance Party ever seen – and all for the very best of causes!
With plenty of support from our sister company, Yappl's business customers and the D@nce Works Dance School in Mansfield, Tonia went all out on the Barbie theme and pulled together a pink and sparkly party for the girls at the studio. Everyone enjoyed the games and entertainment like creative face and nail painting, some delicious food from McDonald's and plenty of dancing – raising a massive £500 in the process. It's no wonder the girls said it was the best party they'd ever been to!
On Wednesday the 23rd of August, A1 Comms took to the pitch to compete in Nottingham's Powerleague five-a-side charity tournament alongside other big businesses like Worldpay, East Midlands Chamber, FHP Property Consultants and Shakespeare Martineau. Joe Butler, Liam Bradbury, Akikur Rahman, Indy Garcher, Joe Howlett, Jacob Ward and Sakaar Lama.
Winning would mean a massive £600 to the team's charity of choice – but though the team played brilliantly and qualified to make it through to the quarter finals, they were finally beaten 5-1 by the aptly named Champions team, who went on to win the tournament. Top marks for effort, though!
At the start of August, A1 Comms held an epic Summer Fun Day and BBQ at Derby Rugby Club, which raised a huge £475 in ticket sales, despite plenty of rain! Luckily, we kept the BBQ sheltered and a bit of rain didn't put us off enjoying activities like an inflatable gladiator ring, penalty shootout, and football darts board. And there was lots to do indoors, too – like crazy golf, a sumo wrestling ring, a pool table, a selfie booth, face painting, and an amazing live band. All in all, we think that counts as a great success!
On Saturday the 22nd of July, our People and Culture Manager Ash Kersting took on the monumental challenge of climbing Ben Nevis in the Highland region of Lochaber, near Fort William, to raise money for Alfreton Park School. She managed the upward climb in only three hours and completed the trek (4421ft up and back down!) in 5 hours and 45 minutes – what an amazing achievement!
At the end of June, our HR Director Vicky Fearnley and her sister took on the Six Dales Trail to raise money, covering a huge 46 miles of terrain, five watersheds and of course, six dales on her way from Otley to Middleham, North Yorkshire. Thankfully they made it through the two-day trek just about intact, adding a nice chunk of cash to our fundraising efforts!
On Friday 16th June, our Office Manager, Rhia Mclean went all out for a good cause and braved a skydive from 15,000 feet! She threw herself out of a plane at Langar Airfield in Nottingham, plummeting down at 120mph before deploying her parachute. But the terror and exhilaration were all worth it, for a good cause!
On Monday 12th June, a brilliant team from A1 Comms took on the ultimate golf challenge and completed four rounds in a single day – covering 144km between them, taking 1600 shots, losing 40 balls and glugging 20 litres of water in the sweltering 28-degree heat. Not exactly a leisurely way to raise money, after all!
In March, an amazing team from A1 Comms and Yappl (our business division) completed the Derbyshire Three Peaks Challenge. The team took on Kinder Scout, Bleaklow, and Higher Shelf Stones – three remote mountain tops in the Peak District, an excellent 21-mile challenge.
