Access to Healthcare Network’s (AHN) mission is to increase access to primary and specialty healthcare services for under and uninsured “working poor” Nevada residents through shared responsibility and community-wide partnerships. Since 2006, AHN has been operating an innovative and comprehensive statewide non-profit healthcare delivery system that provides working poor Nevadans with access to comprehensive healthcare services at greatly discounted rates. Underinsured/working poor individuals served by AHN include low-income individuals and who are not eligible to receive government-funded or subsidized healthcare services such as Obamacare, Medicaid, Medicare, do not receive employer-based health insurance, cannot afford their annual health insurance deductibles/co-pays, and/or those whose insurance product does not cover needed healthcare services.
AHN’s Medical Discount Program (MDP) collaborates with AHN and local providers to provide uninsured and underinsured individuals with valuable medical services at a discounted rate. These providers include hospitals, clinics, primary and specialty care providers, pharmacists, dentists, optometrists, and adult and pediatric mental health services.
Each year approximately 30 of Access to Healthcare’s female Medical Discount Plan (MDP) members request financial assistance to access breast cancer treatment. Unfortunately, all members are either uninsured or underinsured and live in impoverished situations that greatly impact their ability to access needed cancer treatment. AHN aims to obtain funds to provide low-income uninsured women in northern Nevada with the ability to obtain life-saving breast cancer treatment without women having to make financial decisions such as whether to feed their families or follow through on their treatment. Even at our vastly discounted rates, the cost of treatment can be the equivalent of three months’ rent.
You can help. We need to provide approximately 10 to 15 uninsured women diagnosed with breast cancer with financial assistance to obtain needed medical care. Lastly, AHN’s care coordination activities will also address the social determinants of a member’s health, including housing instability and food insecurity, which can negatively affect a woman’s ability to engage in breast cancer treatment successfully. It is AHN’s priority always to remember that the participant is a mom, sister, friend, daughter who had a life before she got diagnosed and has a life that includes a diagnosis, but she is not the diagnosis.
What does your donation pay for breast cancer?
A woman’s primary care physician services, medical or surgical specialists, chemotherapy and radiation treatment, mastectomies, complex imaging studies, lab tests, and side effects treatment.
Any donation will help make a HUGE impact.
Thanks in advance for your contribution to this cause that means so much to AHN.
