Our ALS Hero

Our friend Pat Emery has been recently diagnosed with ALS. Pat is married to Victoria and they have two sons, one is serving is the military and the other is a senior in high school. Seven years ago, Pat suffered a traumatic brain injury which robbed him of his career, ability to drive and he still suffers from memory loss. About two years ago, he began having breathing issues and severe migraines which they thought were related to the TBI. Although many setbacks and hospital stays, Pat has always tried to remain positive, stay focused on his family, and look forward to better days ahead. During the most recent hospital stay earlier this year, the family was dealt another blow with the confirmed diagnosis of ALS. Because of the progressing illness, Pat is wheelchair bound and has no way to be transported to doctor appointments or social events which would allow him some sense of normalcy. The family was recently denied funding for a van equipped to transport Pat's wheelchair. This money would be used to buy a van for Pat and his family. Pat is a proud graduate of Elder High School class of 1983 and has many fond memories of Elder games. Pat is 55 years young and hopes to live out the rest of his life being able to attend social events with family and friends, as well as advocating for others with ALS.
