Help Abdou-Raouf Akanga get a bike
Donation protected
This is not about me, so I will make this part simple.
My name is Keith Jackson. I work at the Bicyclespace Bike Shop in Ivy City, Washington DC

As I said, this is so not about me. This is about Abdou-Raouf Akanga.
Abdou-Raouf, is the founder of the BIKE AID - Kpalimé Cycling Project in Togo. He, along with friends and volunteers, bring cycling to the kids in Kpalimé-Togo. I am a huge fan of him and his program. He really hustles to get donations from Europe to make it happen for the kids.
He has great group of kids and he shows them everything from mechanics to racing. (Yes, that is a child riding rollers. On a department store bike. Hands free.)
You can read more about his program on their Facebook page.

But right now, we need to talk about Raouf.
Raouf was riding the Tour of Benin last week and achieved his first ever Yellow Jersey for leading General Classification on stage 3 of the event. On stage 4, his bike broke. He was able to rent a bike from another rider but the chain on that bike broke on lap 14 of the final 20 lap criterium. So now he has nothing.
I am trying to get the funds together to send him a bike and some spares to get him through the season.
If anyone is interested in donating hard goods such as parts and helmets, etc. Please reach out to me at my
Monsere Designs Facebook page and reference Bike Aid Togo.
Thanks a lot. I am based in the Washington DC/Metro area, as I said. So if any locals want to pitch in, let me know.
(Update) When I started this campaign one of my friends, a woman, asked if I was going to make sure that the kids in the youth program would benefit from this GoFundMe campaign and were any girls in the program. Well, there are six.
This is Dové Agboble. I asked Rouf about her. "Oh, Dové? She's 14. She has no mother a father, an orphan. We took her in."
Please note her cycling footwear.
