First Ever African Nations World Cup Team
Donation protected
This summer, approved for the first time, we're coordinating to have an Black-centric quadball team attend and compete at World Cup. With a proposal dating back to the COVID shutdown of 2020, a lot of work has gone into applying for approval to create a non-NGB that allows membership for descendants of the African diaspora. The ability to see and interact with players that look like us on the pitch has had immeasurable impact on so many Black players worldwide, and now we hope to get the chance to participate in the sport we love on the world stage.
So far, the public announcement of leadership has started with Christian Barnes as the manager of the team. Starting in May, we will announce other members (leadership and players) to display the talent that will lead this team in Richmond this July, before a full roster release of May 15th.
Our goal with this fundraiser is to meet the $1,000 team fee, cover the $15 per person player fee, and then any leftover funds will cover housing and transportation costs for any players. If all costs are covered for all players, we plan to make donations to BIPOC Quadball grants in the hope that the population that represents us on the pitch can grow.
If you can donate or share on social media, and spread the word to other Black quadball athletes, you'll be doing the team a great service and with all of my heart I say thank you. This experience is going to be a dream come true, and I am truly grateful to all those who help it come to fruition.
**We are in discussion with Quadball Uganda about joining our teams since they are unable to send a full team, but do not know at this time whether they will be able to send athletes to compete this World Cup cycle.
