On sunday morning 10/6/18 around 1:23 a.m. in the area of 51st ave and Indian School Monica Jackson Ortiz and her husband Fino Mario Gonzales-Ortiz were leaving the Purple Turtle Bar when a person came up to them and said there was a man in the street hurt. So mario and 2 others went to see if the man was ok, while doing so a speeding car hit mario and left without even checking to see if he was ok. Mario is still in the Trauma ICU. He's stable and responsive he had breathing tubes in but they have taken them out and he is able to communicate and talk. Now he is wondering what happened and how can somebody do this to him, he has 15 stitches to his head. He had a bad concussion, a tube connected to his brain, His neck is broke but kept stable. A minor injury to his artery .Broken ankle and His leg is being patched and he has had several surgeries on his leg so far. He's on a long road to recovery. Mario is a veteran who served our country and is always willing to go out of his way to help other people. He has two children, 14 and 15, and a wife that has had to miss work due to this unfortunate accident.
