Alexa & Arthur's Story:

Arthur has arrived!

He was born Wednesday the 29th @ 12:39 pm, 5lbs 5ozs. He was born early, we have been closely monitoring his condition since early in the pregnancy including weekly ultrasounds. My ultrasound on Monday the 27th showed that his condition (chylo thorax) had worsened and the pockets of fluid in his chest cavity were getting bigger. Also I had almost double the average amount of amniotic fluid. So the decision was made that it would be better to induce labor early and try to help him on the outside, instead of in utero. I was at 34.5 weeks in my pregnancy. I am very thankful to say that my labor went fast and well. Induction started at 3am, 10am the bag of waters was broken, then Arthur was born at 12:39. He could have been 8+lbs had he made it full term.

His first 3 days of life were his hardest, lots of fine tuning medications and ventilators and drainage tubes and lots of life support. He did eventually start to stabilize and has had slow consistent improvement since then. He will be living in the NCIU for several weeks while he is treated for Chylo Thorax, Pulmonary Hypertension, kidney issues and more. We have strong suspicions that the condition is being cause by Noonan Syndrome as he also has physical features that would indicate Noonan Syndrome. We are waiting on genetics testing to find out more.

I am pumping and skimming milk for him. He has a long road ahead of him but we are just happy and grateful to have him here with us. He has so much love and support. Thank you for all the love for out family.
