Support Alexis El Sayed
Alexis is such a beautiful, dedicated member of the PCVST and 14th Street Y community. She lives here, raises her children here and has taught so many of our own children at the 14th Street Y.
One year ago, Alexis discovered that she is BRCA positive. Despite being proactive with this knowledge through preventative surgery, meeting with doctors, and educating herself and her family & friends, she was recently diagnosed with breast cancer.
Alexis will have surgery on Monday, April 18th and then will begin chemotherapy 3 weeks after that. The 1st round of chemo will be once a week for 12 weeks, the second round is to be determined after the pathology from the surgery comes back.
Alexis supports her family with two jobs, both as a teacher at the 14th Street Y and as a bartender. She will be unable to tend bar for at least two months while she recovers. She hopes to return to teaching after about a month of recovery.
Alexis's battle with cancer is going to be quite a challenge, mentally, physically, spiritually and financially. Many, many people in our community have expressed interest in helping Alexis, as she has touched our own families so deeply in her kindness and tenderness as a teacher, Y community member and friend. Please consider donating to ease the financial burden of her fight.
