Aliyah's Fight Against Diabetes
Donation protected
I am humbly pleading for monetary help for my beautiful, loving, and selfless daughter named Aliyah. Four months ago she was diagnosed with Type 1 diabetes. Since then I have attended every informational class offered by the hospitals and networked with other parents via social media and other organizations. The support I’ve received is nothing short of miraculous.
I have three other children aged 8, 4, and 2. Aliyah is 5 years old. Although we are still in the “honeymoon” phase of this disease I am earnestly following every instruction given via the medical professionals that I call on constantly. However, two days ago I experienced the most horrific and paralyzing fear of my life when Aliyah had a seizure due to low blood sugar.
The entire family was asleep for about an hour when Aliyah screamed a piercing high pitched, desperately needed help type of scream that I don’t wish for any parent to ever hear. She later told me that she remembers screaming but was trying to talk but couldn’t. Her body was shaking and rigid. Her eyes were rolled back in her head and her hands were clenched closed so tightly that I had to pry a finger open to test her glucose level. It was a terrible sight and feeling.
Although paralyzed with fear and uncertainty I managed to draw a glucagon shot and administer it. Within seconds she came to and just sobbed uncontrollably. During this time her brother and sisters were also scared beyond belief. They were all crying and extremely worried about their sister. It would take me hours to explain the grief and anxiety experienced by the whole family but instead I will just ask for the help I need to keep my daughter safe.
Both my husband and I work full time but we barely make ends meet. I really need your help so that I can get Aliyah a service dog that will not only be a life companion but a LIFE SAVING one at that. Having a diabetic sensory trained dog will increase my chances exponentially of keeping Aliyah safe. These dogs cost thousands of dollars and there is no possible way we can afford it.
Please help us in any way possible. Please share this with anyone that may be able to help. Having this dog would help ease my mind knowing that his main job would be to monitor her for smells that humans can’t detect. It would help me recognize dangerous glucose levels if we are between regular readings. Raising my beautiful children requires that I be in two different places at once with eyes behind my head and at least eight arms to do what all mothers do. Please help me so that I can have additional support to monitor Aliyah’s well-being. I believe this is absolutely necessary or I wouldn’t be asking.
All children are beautiful but the selfless and caring nature of Aliyah is evident to perfect strangers. She has been known to stop in her tracks and hug even a complete stranger if she feels that they are sad for any reason or simply just in need of a hug. I know she was chosen to live with this disease to help educate and support others in the same situation. Please help me to support her on this mission as I am positive that she is destined to do great things. Please kokua.... please help. Aliyah’s quality of life and overall success depend on it. Thank you very much in advance for any help you’re able to offer.
