This campaign was started by Dennis Sexton, a great coworker and friend of the family and is updated by Allyson's Aunt Leann.
Allyson is a beautiful energetic 8 year old girl. She started getting bsick on Saturday 3/5. On Sunday her mother, Amanda, took her to RediMed where she was diagnosed with influenza A. On Monday she was not feeling well and had a fever of 105. She was taken to the emergency room twice and was diagnosed with croup on top of the flu. They did chest x-rays that day and her lungs looked okay. The main picture on this page is from that day. On Tuesday morning, Amanda checked her oxygen levels and they were between 70 and 76 (normal range is 94-100). She was taken to the emergency room again and they did chest x-rays again and this time it was clear she had pneumonia. They took her by ambulance to Parkview Regional where she was put on a ventilator shortly after. A few hours later her family was informed that there was nothing else they could do for Allyson and that she would be airlifted to Riley Children's Hospital in Indianapolis.
Immediately upon her arrival at Riley's Allyson was placed on an ECMO machine that is 100% supporting her heart and lungs. Since then she has had many procedures and the family was told that she is the sickest child in Riley which means she is the sickest child in all of Indiana. Allyson has an amazing team of at least 30 doctors (the most one of the doctors has ever seen working on one case) that are doing everything they can for her. This is going to a very long road for the family, emotionally, physically and financially. Most importantly we ask for your prayers but appreciate anything else you can give. We will be updating this page as often as possible and you can follow Allyson's story on her mother's facebook:
