IL Mercato Cafe (Alone – TOGETHER) Fundraiser
IL MERCATO CAFÉ FUNDRAISER
Alone – TOGETHER!
How can each of us (all of us) help during the coronavirus outbreak?
With this initiative, we pledge to provide one Il Mercato meal for every $20 donated.
Our ultimate goal being 5,000 meals to our on-duty first responders and families in need.
This fundraiser, Alone – TOGETHER! is dedicated to tackling the pandemic crisis on two fronts—first, by providing meals to people in our community who need help NOW and second, keeping your small neighborhood restaurant IL MERCATO CAFÉ open and operating to continue serving you.
How It Works
1. You make your donation.
Your donation will buy at least ONE meal(20$)for our prized health care workers who need our support.
(No donation is too small and we certainly welcome larger ones!)
2. We help care centers in need.
We’re working closely with our community’s resident and the city of Hallandale Beach to identify & serve neighbors in greatest need for healthy food and good nutrition.
3. We prepare & deliver the meals.
Our kitchen will prepare and deliver all the meals.
IL MERCATO CAFÉ E WINE BAR OUR STORY:
Emily (pictured second from left) is the owner and chef of Il Mercato. After growing up in the restaurant business in Germany with Michele, her Italian stepfather, Emily followed her craving to create good eats and struck out on her own. Shesomehow found her way to Albany, New York to engage in a 2-year apprenticeship in Nicole’s Bistro (think: Hell’s Kitchen) with Chef Dan Smith in February 2002. By the end of 2004, she completed her training, graduated from the French Culinary Institute, and began working in Manhattan at Danube in TriBeCa and Eleven Madison Park in the heart of The Big Apple. In 2007, her next stop was Table 8 in South Beach, which ultimately led her to create Il Mercato with Michele (pictured first on right) who retired from “front of house” several years ago.
Emily was born in Boulder, Colorado, grew up in Regensburg, Germany and spent summers in Bergen, Norway. She speaks English, German, Norwegian and some Italian. Her passion is cooking fresh, healthy food with innovative delicious flavors to improve peoples' lives and excite them to enjoy dining at its creative best. She is devoted to her sons Connor (8) and William (4) and their adored sister, Alyssa (2) and (whenever she can squeeze in the time with such a full plate) to exercising, readingculinary and general writings to absorb and develop insight just for the sake of her own learning.
Emily is very proud to be a part of this effort and is looking forward to helping rebuild our community in the wake of hardships the coronavirus has created for us all.
