Tragic Death of Teacher's Child

On Friday, July 29, 2016 a passionate teacher from my high school, Amanda Gilson, suffered the greatest loss a mother could ever have: the death of her child and the father of her child.

A custody dispute took a wrong turn. After a 20-minute stand off with police, Brian Gilson who suffered from depression took his own life. When police entered his apartment, they found a tragic sight. Brian had also shot his three-year-old daughter Brianna. This is a tragedy for Amanda and her family who will now try and put the pieces of their lives back together again.

The money that you donate will help this family that was surviving off one income provide the proper memorial service and funeral that this beautiful little girl deserves. Amanda will be moving back to Iowa to be with her family and close friends to get the support she needs, so funds will also be towards her relocating.

Amanda has dedicated her life to helping students in the Aldine district be the best that they can be, and now it’s time that the tables turn so that we as a community can help her be the best that she can be at a time like this.
