Andy & Lisa are Biking Britain- Chin-spiring World 1st LEJOG
Donation protected
19 years ago, aged 28, Andy was tragically paralysed from the neck down following a spinal cord injury whilst simply going for a swim in India. August 4th sees Andy Walker MBE, Amazing cousin Lisa & lifelong friend Alan- supported by Peak Tours challenge company- begin their attempt to cycle just over 1000 miles from Lands End to John O Groats. A feat never accomplished for someone of injury. BUT with Andy using only a chin Controlled quad cycle to complete this epic challenge -regardless of exhaustion, perception of what might be received possible, imminent and inevitable barriers/danger and erratic wind and weather conditions-
Raising money for Rob Burrow and motoneurons disease, Regain Sports injuries charity (his beloved spinal cord injury charity) & Mahdlo Youth Zone which Lisa works & volunteers for in Oldham. (see further information below)
Since his accident, Andy his family and his friend have completed a number of extreme- World first challenges including cycling 350 miles across Kenya in a chin controlled quadrix bike. He was awarded an MBE for services to disability in 2019. He has appeared in the TV program Emmerdale and now runs a motivational speaking company.
This will be a charity bike ride and we will be raising money for:
- Regain Sports Charity (helping sports tetraplegics lead independent lives)
- Mahdlo Youth Zone (a charity youth zone providing services and support for the young people of Oldham)
- MND Association - supporting people with motor neurone disease.
These three charities make a huge difference to the lives of so many people so any money that you can spare would be greatly appreciated : - ) And, equally importantly.... please cheer us on, raise awareness and passion for breaking barriers and support our challenge! THANK YOU ❤️
