Anya Martin Curtis' Memorial Expenses, Fund for Bela

Hi, my name is Lisa A. Nixon Mabry. I'm one of Anya Martin Curtis' best friends. On behalf of her family, friends, and loved ones, I'm creating this fundraiser.

On Friday, February 2, 2024, around 3 a.m., Anya fell and hit her head.

Later that morning, her husband said she was unresponsive. A neighbor paramedic and friend checked her and called 9-1-1. She had to have emergency surgery to remove a blood clot that had formed. It had pushed her brain to one side, causing severe damage. Unfortunately, she was deemed brain dead, based on exams and the extent of the injury.

The family and her loved ones are understandably devastated.

She was removed from life support the following Tuesday.

Anya's wishes were for a cremation and celebratory service. In addition, the family wanted a memorial placard or some kind placed on family property next to her grandparents.

She did not have life insurance.

Anya has a daughter, Bela, who is the light of her life. She turned 13 at the end of the February when this all happened. Any funds not used for Anya's final care and memorialization are being used to create a future fund for Bela.

Anya would hate the fuss that was made over her and this fundraiser being done. That said, we want to be sure the family and other loved ones can focus on her, mourning, and her daughter instead of the worry over finances. Any amount is greatly appreciated and will be used to help them during this difficult time.

Memorial services were held in April 2024.
