Support Apollo’s Journey to Self-Sufficiency

Donation protected
Hi! We’re asking for some help reaching our $2000 goal to buy a vehicle from our cousin so that my Dad can take on more jobs working and delivering food in the community! If we can raise a little bit extra to help pay registration and insurance that would be ideal but our main goal is just raising enough to cover the vehicle! If you’d like to support my Dad with groceries or cannabis (his medicine of choice), you can send an EMT to: apolloaugustine419 at gmail.com

My Dad reached out to me recently and asked if I would be able to help gather some funds so that he can buy a vehicle off one of our cousins, for awhile he’s been hesitant asking for any kind of support but I’ve always talked him into it when he’s needed new clothes or any kind of help surviving. He felt that he should be further along in his healing before asking for anything else, and he’s mindful not to take advantage of the kindness and generosity of other people. He prefers to be private and for awhile he’s been asking me not to publicize his life and just respect his privacy as he heals, so I’ve been ♥️

Ever since Macaïah started his journey to the spiritual world, he knew how badly I was grieving, I’ve noticed my Dad slowly making improvements, it started one day at my baby cousins birthday party (2022), I saw him with my baby brother (5 y/o). All of his teeth were removed as he was waiting for his new dentures, he was wearing a brand new pair of glasses, checking his sugars and using his insulin, and I was watching him interact with my baby brother so lovingly and making him plates of food, and I saw how much my baby brother loved him. I was so shocked, I was so proud, I felt so happy that my baby brother had our Dad to raise him. The next time we saw each other was about 2 months later and I continued to witness more improvements with his health! He had his dentures and his confidence skyrocketed. It was so unbelievable to witness my Dad smile and laugh again. I felt like I had lost him for so long it felt so beautiful to just be present with him again and to feel his spirit back inside his body.

Every time we saw each other we would step aside and have conversations about life. At the beginning of the tragic loss of Macaïah, I told him “Dad, I love you so much, I know you love me too and you want what’s best for me, I need to focus on my life now and build a future for me and baby. The best thing you can do for me if you love me, is take care of yourself so that I don’t have to worry about you okay?” and it didn’t happen overnight, but 2 and a half years later, he’s come so far in his healing, I’ve never seen him so stable in my life. He's been on such a good path for about a year and I’m so happy that he’s finally come to a place in his healing where he’s ready to live and not just survive and cope. I’m so proud of him.

He recognizes the importance in sharing his story of resilience, so he’s allowing me to share I thank you from the bottom of my heart because he’s come so far on his healing journey because the kindness and generosity of other people. He has a home, he’s been completing programs in the community, applying for jobs, working, adding things to his home, taking care of my baby brother, reconnecting with my little sister, coming to family gatherings, spending time with my uncle, paying his bills, and just doing things he genuinely loves doing. Now that he has a space where he’s free to be himself, I’ve noticed such a huge improvement in his happiness and quality of life. I feel like I have my Dad back ♥️

Don’t lose hope.
