Pam’s Cancer Journey

As many of you know, my mom, Pam, has been fighting cancer for the last year and a half. Last May she went into the hospital with abdominal pain which led to bowel surgery. During the surgery they found cancer in her appendix. She was already in stage 3 appendiceal cancer, they thought that they had removed it all but wanted her to do chemo because of how aggressive this type of cancer is. After 8 months of chemotherapy, she had a clear scan in April.

So, with my mom’s new lease on life, she decided to retire from nursing. If you know my mom, this is a HUGE deal for my mom, because this job was made for her. She is the most compassionate, strong, loving angel that I know. She loves with her whole heart, will give without question, and cares with more passion than I have seen in any human ever. So with a clear scan, she decided to go on a Cross Atlantic cruise. While visiting with my amazing aunt and cousins in Spain, she ended up in the hospital AGAIN with a bowel obstruction. During laparoscopic surgery they found that the cancer is back, in full force, and is in stage 4. My sister and I struggled with knowing if we could get her home, but either way, we knew we had to come to Spain. We still don’t know if my mom will be strong enough to make it back home for her final days as we wait for her CT Scan results. Her health has been like a rollercoaster, and I will try to update all of you as we know more. We appreciate all the love, thoughts, prayers, and hope for them to continue.
