Aremu-USATF Junior Olympics 2015

Donation protected
Hi, my name is Aremu Wymes. I am a 16 year old scholar, athlete and artist and I live in the Washington, DC Metro Region. Welcome to my USATF National Junior Olympics 2015 Campaign!

ABOUT MY CAMPAIGN:

This past weekend I qualified to compete at the USATF Region 3 Junior Olympic Track and Field Championships in 4 track events.  My Mom has paid for my expenses that cover club membership, food, sports gear and travel to the Regionals in Newport News, VA next week.  After I compete next week (July 8 – 12, 2015) I will be headed to the National Junior Olympics in Jacksonville, Florida).  This campaign is to raise the funds to cover all of my expenses for the USATF National Junior Olympics Championship trip to Jacksonville, Florida (July 27 – August 2, 2015).  These expenses include, air and ground transportation, lodging, meals, and other fees.

Your financial support would make it possible for me to participate in the National Junior Olympic Championship and achieve my goal of earning the title of Junior Olympic All American Athlete!  I want to BRING BACK THE GOLD to the Washington, DC Metro Region.  Thank you so much for your confidence, consideration and support.

My campaign goal is to raise $2500.00 before July 19, 2015 so that I can purchase the airline ticket right after the Regionals (or sooner).  The Regionals end on July 12, 2015.  Any amount of support is greatly appreciated.

MORE ABOUT ME:

This Fall I will be an honor student in the Visual Art Center/Fine Arts Magnet at Albert Einstein High School in Kensington, Maryland.  My concentration is in Manga which is a Japanese style of graphic novel.  I also enjoy illustrating, cartooning, and writing graphic novels.  I am the resident cartoon artist for my high school newspaper, “The Nucleus.” I have produced a comic strip series entitled, “Tim Titan.”  In May 2015 I won a second place prize in a local art competition, entitled "MoCo's Got Talent."  I also served as a junior instructor for a local arts residency program in Takoma Park, MD.

I am very proud of my first published work as an illustrator of the recently released e-book, "Children of the Sun: The Painted Ones - Part 1."  You can see the book at www.smashwords.com/books/view/544179.

One of my favorite extra-curricular activities is running track with my high school track team.

2014/2015 SPORTS ACCOMPLISHMENTS:

USA-JA Track and Field Club – Star Athlete (earned several medals and a prized baton for the 2014 David Oliver Track Classic – 3200 Meter Relay Championship

USA Track & Field Junior Olympic Regional Championship, July 2014 and Qualified for July 2015

USA Track & Field National Junior Olympic Championship Competed for the All American Athlete Title (4 x 800 Meter Relay) 2014

This is my second summer running as  one of the athletes in a Junior Olympic Training Summer Club, USA-JA Track and Field Club where I am having so much fun!  I have made a lot of friends while learning to compete at my highest level.  My coaches at USA-JA teach us how to develop key character traits such as hard work, discipline, patience, and sportsmanship.  This experience has inspired me to bring my “A” game to everything I pursue on the track, in the classroom and most importantly throughout my life.
