HELP AN ELOY STUDENT GO TO COLLEGE!

This scholarship was created to financially aid students who have positively impacted Arizona communities through charitable work. This may include unpaid tutoring/mentoring, volunteering at animal shelters, reading to school children or the elderly, organizing donations, or any number of other volunteer services. Donations will support a student pay for their college expenses!

About Us

The Good Samaritan is a biblical reference to the parable answering, “who is my neighbor?” It’s the story of a Jewish man who was abused and left to die. People came across him but did nothing to help. Along comes a Samaritan who aids him showing compassion, though they are known enemies. The Good Samaritan has nothing to gain by helping a half-dead person, yet shares money, time, and resources to revive his neighbor.

The Arizona Good Samaritan Scholarship was founded by my father, Michael Duran, (SCVUHS Class of 1994) and I, Brittany Duran (SCVUHS Class of 2017) to reward someone who shows compassion and selflessness through volunteer services. During my time at SCVUHS, I spent every week tutoring, teaching, and volunteering. I completed over 500 hours of volunteer services during my senior year. Because I was so engaged in these activities, I had little spare time even as I prepared for college, which I could not afford on my own.

I was fortunate enough to have received a scholarship that allowed me to study at Arizona State University. Now, my father and I would like to give back to the community and help a SCVUHS senior willing to give up their time to help their neighbor, by giving the chance to afford secondary education.
