Assist Ash and Kira in Their Time of Need

*Update*
Ash and Kira have been blown away and unconditionally grateful by the outpouring of love and support through this GoFundMe. Each day is a challenge as well a learning experience as to the long haul of a house restoration. They both recognize the unwavering power of community and are forever grateful.
For some good news, as of June 28th, The Did is out of the ICU and “at home” at their amazing friend Allie’s house. The critical care vet said they knew she was ready once she assaulted them that morning. She is recovering to her old self yet obviously misses her furry siblings. We all do.
Hi all.
On Sunday, July 23rd, my aunts left their home to attend a parade, and while gone, they received the tragic news that their home was on fire. Within a short time, they lost three of their four pets, and, because of the fire and smoke damage, will be out of their house in temporary housing for an unforeseeable time.
Ashley works full-time as a nurse, and Kira is a high school teacher for at risk youth. They are exceptionally selfless and compassionate people and have helped out numerous people and animals in need throughout their years as a team. Ashley and Kira have consistently been the glue that has held our family (both blood and chosen) together through the years. There is nobody in life who deserves to live well like them, but unfortunately tragedy has hit - and now they need us.
Charlie, a German Shepherd, was given to them in 2018, when they helped me leave a domestic violence situation with my newborn. Charlie quickly became their baby, and the most well behaved, spunky, gentle giant. Goose, a mixed mutt, was adopted by them from my nonprofit dog rescue, after multiple failed adoption attempts. With lots of love, time, and consistency - Goose became Charlie's best friend, and a welcomed family member. Ben made it into their home in 2022, following the unexpected passing of my dad. Ben was the last piece of him we had, and Ashley and Kira couldn't bear to leave him behind. Although plagued with issues, he was given everything he needed to become a healthy, happy cat again.
The 'Did' is the average cat owner's worst nightmare, but she is their little ray of sunshine. They rescued the Did over 10 years ago and nursed her back to health. After 10 years, the Did is still feral as ever - but loved so much. The animals are their children, and they often all rolled as a pack wherever they traveled.
The Did was hospitalized and is now stable after receiving emergency treatment. Charlie, Goose, and Benny all passed away during the fire from smoke inhalation.
Ashley and Kira are beyond devastated over the loss of their fur babies, and are attempting to navigate the grief on top of the damage to a large part of their house and belongings. They will not be able to return home for an undetermined amount of time.
All donations will go directly to Kira and Ash to assist with unforeseeable costs. Thank you for reading, and thank you all for loving my aunts as much as I do.
