Ashley Jones Beautifully Flawed Shine Retreat Fund
On June 4, 2016, Ashley Jones, a kind, beautiful, faith-filled 14-year-old girl was a passenger in an ATV accident.
God saved her life but the doctors were unable to save her arm. Ashley’s right arm was crushed and eventually amputated 6” below the shoulder.
Three months prior to her accident, Ashley’s beloved father, Damian Jones, passed away suddenly of a heart attack. He was 46 years old.
Ashley spent 8 days in Children’s Hospital and underwent 3 surgeries. One bright moment while in the hospital was when Ashley met Bethany Hamilton via Skype. She learned then of the retreat, Beautifully Flawed Shine, founded by Bethany Hamilton: a surfer who’s left arm was lost to a shark attack in 2003.
The retreat is a place where young women ages 14-24 who have limb loss can gather to be mentored by Bethany and other Christian women, be encouraged by each other, strengthen their bodies and souls, and have fun! The retreat mission is: to inspire, strengthen, and teach young female amputees to use their physical differences as a platform to SHINE a bright light to others.
Ashley was accepted into Bethany’s retreat and will travel there this October.
As a community, we gather around this family to offer them our love and support.
