We've all been through difficulties in our life. Heartaches, losses, pains and so on. If you're one of the lucky ones, like I was, there is someone there to help you when you really need it. When I went through my struggles, I asked for help. I had mountains of family members and friends that could and would help me. Now I'm asking, not just my family and friends, but everyone that reads this to help someone that needs it.
Out of respect for her, I won't go into great detail, but my dear friend Ashley has been pulled through the ringer. Her story isn't unique. She trusted the wrong person. Someone she should have been able to trust and she was taken advantage of and betrayed. Her financial reserves were drained. She's working full time while taking care of 4 kids alone, including her youngest with extensive healthcare needs and isn't making enough to catch up, no matter how many cuts she makes. On top of that her housing is set to increase dramatically in the next couple of months so she needs to find a more reasonable option.
She comes in to work each day greeting everyone with a smile so bright that it shames a sunbeam! She's one of the most amazing people I know and goes out of her way to be there for people and she never asks for anything herself. When help is offered, you get that bright sunshine smile and a "Thank you, but we'll be ok."
I can't sit by and watch her struggle anymore. She juggles and struggles and sacrifices to make sure everyone is taken care of but is denied when she applies for services to help her, because "your services have to be disconnected to even apply for help."
I know we've all struggled through COVID, and many of us don't have a lot, but I'm asking you all now to just do a little bit. Help someone that has never asked for it. Help her overcome a deficit not of her own making and help her get into a safe place for her and her children.
