Update 3/28/2024. I will be getting 2 Radiofrequency ablations next week, and insurance won’t cover them. The payment for one RFA is $2,300. Thank you for any help possible.
My name is Ashley, I have a condition called Ehlers Danlos (specifically a hyper-mobility variant) My lower spine pain among many other things like my wrist and orthostatic hypotension has gotten worse since my collarbone surgery in 2020. I need pain medicine that my insurance won’t cover, a weekly treatment with an IV and special vitamins with saline and electrolytes (the IV treatment alone is $150 and I may need it more than one time a week.) , equipment like compression boots to keep the bad swelling in my legs and body down (the boots most reccomended to me are at the lowest, $700), and help towards affording wrist surgery and another Radiofrequency Ablation for my Lumbar and SI joints which insurance also does not cover. I will also be needing surgery for my endometriosis in the near future, another thing causing pain.
I have exhausted nearly every possible treatment for my pain: spinal cord stimulator, RFA’s, epidural steroid injections, DiscSeel, physical therapy, chiropractic care, aqua therapy, and much more. I will continue to try new things like softwave therapy (insurance doesn’t cover), red light therapy (insurance doesn’t cover), Platelet Rich plasma injections (struggling to find a doctor for this), whatever I can try to reduce my pain, but a lot of these things are expensive.
I appreciate any and all help anyone can provide. And if anyone needs help understanding or learning about Ehlers Danlos, Management of chronic pain, or tips on finding doctors, I’m happy to help because I know how hard it is. My life is limited to sitting in a chair crying and suffering until I’m able to take pain medication or have to gut it up to get to a doctors visit which then increases pain even more.
