Ashton Makore tuition fees

Donation protected
Hello everyone. My name is Abel Makore and I am based in Manchester, United Kingdom. My young brother has been awarded a place to study for a master’s of law majoring in international energy law and policies. We are pursuing numerous avenues to raise the required funds as a family and also through friends but we could use some assistance. All the funds we raise here will be deposited into my account for onward transmission to the University of Dundee so that we pool it with what we already have.

Here is his story, in his own words

“My name is Ashton Anderson Makore and I have been offered a place to study at the University of Dundee for a Masters of Law (LLM) in International Energy Law and Policy. The University of Dundee is one of the best ranked in both Scotland and the UK and being awarded a place is a personal honour and a testament to my competence. I am due to start in January 2021 but before then, I need to have processed my Tier 4 Visa application by the end of November 2020. The total cost for the LLM is £18 000.00  and of that amount, £5 000.00 has already been deducted from my tuition because I was awarded the Global Citizen Scholarship based on my community work in, notably, feeding the homeless through various community based initiatives.

I am appealing for £13 000.00 towards my tuition fees that remains outstanding through this platform. Of this £13 000.00, There has to be £2 000.00 deposit. I am also making personal efforts to raise this amount through my family and friends but with the reality of COVID-19, this might prove overwhelming for us. I have been applying to various scholarships on offer but due to the extremely limited spaces and their competitive nature, I might not be awarded one. However, should I be awarded one, I will transfer all the funds raised on this platform to a person in a similar position. I have had no choice but to reach out to you and hope that in your own way, this financial burden will be made lighter and I realize a lifelong dream.

My interest in energy law, stems from my personal belief in sustainable development within the entire African continent, which I will come back and develop so that we have policies in place to harness the potential the continent has in this area through solar, wind and wave energy that are abundant and underutilized. When the untapped potential is utilized, the continent can develop its economy, become a better player in the global economy and improve the quality of life for all citizens.

The opportunity that has been presented to me by the University of Dundee is a once in a lifetime chance towards not only realizing this dream but also, learning from the best in the field of renewable energy and advance my career. The impact this Masters has on my career is immeasurable in light of the global developments in alternative and sustainable energy which I hope to add an African voice. This massive chance will undoubtably benefit Africa in the long run but I also hope that the career advancement will boost my personal capacity in my charity work towards the homeless and marginalized, with a particular preference on women and children.

For those who know me personally, this offer to study is a dream come true and for those who do not, I hope the passion I have towards my career and other desires is self-evident enough for you to help me in this way.

Please share my story and plea widely. Thank you so much for taking the time out to read my story, donating & supporting my journey. Every single donation is appreciated!”

Thank you for your time.

Abel.
