Africa’s Atlantic Coast Cuisines
Traditions, Culture, and Food
I grew up in Cameroon in a loving large family and gatherings of all kinds are a lifestyle. Just like other cultures around the world food plays an important conversation and bonding role when people socialize. It also heals our bodies with its medicinal values. Along the West African coast, certain foods, calls for a specific style of preparation and presentation because of tradition, health benefits or a special event which you will find in the book. Many of them generations old, influenced by culture, religion, trade etc.
Coming to America in my youth, having majored in hospitality and business management at San Jose State University California, it exposed me to planning flawless and special events of various sizes and types. Since then, I have always been deeply immersed in organizing and promoting gatherings of many kinds, such as; exhibitions, fashion shows, talks in colleges and universities all across this land. A lot of my efforts have gone into educating the public in the history, culture and the similarities between the cultures of people of African heritage or influence.
These cuisines exudes a savory aroma and the dishes are colorful, always a key component that generates excitement and presents an eclectic presentation during special events. Over time, I observed how much Americans of all ethnic groups expressed their satisfaction and enthusiasm for the incredibly wide variety of delicious food recipes and dishes that are served at the gatherings that I organized. Our guests after a few tastings are always having this O.M.G expression on their faces as they discover the unique tastes. You can almost take a picture of their eyes in amazement. The next question is always;how can I get the recipe or buy the prepared dish’? I figured, it's about time to share the secrets of the West African cuisines demonstrating how we combine seasoned meats, smoked fish or chicken with aromatic fresh herbs and lots of dried spices in creating these heavenly lasting impressions. So, here it is in print and in motion but I need your support to make it come to fruition.
Fortunately, while spending a couple of months recently in West Africa, I had the opportunity to attend some cultural events and the dishes that go with those events. I was now able to confirm my research on the many other cultures of African heritage around the world that have some similarity to the West African cuisines in preparation and presentation. Therefore; what better gift to give my audience but to share many the secrets to the African cuisines with its aroma and flavors from the many herbs and spices that creates the savory taste. Also, seeing the preparation of the foods on TV will help you reproduce these dishes. This is not your ordinary cooking show because you will mind travel, visually experiencing culture, tradition and hear about the origin of some foods and the food journeys. From decor to fashions you will experience have a total experience of the West African culture. This cuisines appeals also to your sense of sight, smell, emotions and leaves you feeling great like a good bottle of wine.
Getting a copy of this Cookbook or watching the Cooking Show demonstrations will challenge your use of spices and herbs in creating very tasty and healthy dishes.. It will prepare a tourist for travel, students will learn history and culture and caterers can add a new menu. Above all, it will help finance the publishing, distribution of the book and copy rights to the cooking show which supports our women's empowerment projects globally.
This means a lot to me and the impact I want to have in educating our youth and others who know very little about some of the traditions and culture of the West African people. In supporting this project, it will help The IWAA Women (www.theiwaa.org) in realizing her dreams in business and personal development. Transfering information about the West African people, culture and tradition from experience helps a student with a school project and takes away the mystery about African Foods.
Thank you for your support in touching the lives of others positively and making their dreams come true.
