Join Andrea's League of Awesomeness! Support Her Life-Changing Recovery.
On May 27, 2015, Andrea’s life changed forever: a traffic light switching from green to red combined with a moment’s distraction and Andrea crashed her motorcycle. During her stay in the Foothills ICU, Andrea’s surgical and medical teams undertook the daunting task of attending to her extensive, life-threatening injuries. Thanks to their skill and her strength and tenacity, a full and complete recovery is expected. For that we are all profoundly grateful.
For the last 12 weeks Andrea’s insurance has covered medical costs and her ‘rainy-day’ savings has allowed an unyielding focus on her recovery where she continues to make great strides: every day her energy is directed toward healing, toward getting home, toward starting the life given back to her.
BUT before Andrea can take up life with her usual gusto, she requires one more, unexpected surgery on her right wrist. This means her stay in long-term care will be extended by up to eight more weeks. Andrea’s surgery is scheduled for Tuesday, August 18, 2015.
AND because of this extended stay, she needs your help. Our aim is to raise $7,500 to offset Andrea’s medical and life expenses to ensure financial concerns are not one more obstacle to overcome as she recovers.
Andrea’s insurance is reaching its limits. Her savings are dwindling faster than a cold pint on a hot day. By the time she’s able to return to work, she’ll have lost nearly FIVE MONTHS of income.
Times are tough out there (especially for so many in Calgary): there is less disposable income, uncertain markets and our own financial obligations. So it is with thoughtful intent that we ask you to give knowing there is no tax receipt and no personal benefit.
Give because who can make you snort beer out of your nose with laughter like Andrea?
Give because who besides Andrea understands how great that one band, tv show, movie is even if it’s only the two of you who ‘get it’?
