A STATE QUEEN'S JOURNEY TO NATIONAL
PLATFORM: Mentoring Teens
Everyday across the United States, teens question their worth and ability to make it in the real world when they graduate. Over crowding and lack of dedicated mentors put most to fend for themselves in the pursuit of happiness and purpose.
Working side by side with several organizations that support teens and things that are important and critical for their success, I found that the work I do IS making a difference.
In 2013, the Hillsboro Chamber's School to Work Program recognized me as their "Volunteer of the Year" honoring the significant influence of my work with students over the past eight years. I have also volunteered with several other teen organizations and see that even small efforts can have a large impact on the lives of young people. Volunteering is widely accepted as a great way to give back but we all know that being recognized as a community leader helps motivate others into following by example. Mentoring teens by providing support to help them realize their dreams & talents is what I am dedicating 2015 to.
I found out that one way I can make that difference is by participating in a pageant that would allow me to share my message around the state.
In Decemeber, I was awarded the title of Mrs. Oregon Plus America and I am very excited and honored to represent Oregon at the national Miss Plus America pageant in Atlanta this coming July.
What I am searching for are sponsors and supporters to help pay the expenses involved in my quest to become Miss Plus America Elite 2015. Winning this title would allow me to further promote my platform, mentoring teens, that would significantally increase the number of youth I can help worldwide.
The amount of money I am trying to raise is related to funding for airfare & lodging and clothing for the various areas of competition. Those that provide financial or inkind support will receive appreciation & recognition for their contributions.
