Update We have raised the necessary funds for the mural which was $6k!!!!!!!!! Any overages will go to support Activists on the ground doing the work.
Any money collected will be held by Faith and Works Organization led by Cara McClure, they are Fiscally sponsored by The Black Belt Community Foundation led by Felecia Lucky.
Cara McClure, Cofounder of BLM Birmingham for 6 years & BLM Activists has been working tirelessly for years—bailing out mothers on Mothers Day, helping to train people for direct action, and doing grassroots local organizing. This effort is to honor the organizers and activists who have done so much for our community. As we bring down the old symbols of white supremacy, let us boldly place these values in the public square: Black Lives Matter!
Our goal is to raise $10,000 to help cover the cost of the mural ($6,000) and if we have any overage goes to 7 other BLM Activists chosen including Cara McClure, so please be generous! We will post an update here once recipients are chosen.
