DONATIONS FOR JAKE. ❤️
We are currently working on moving into a bigger home so Jake can have his own bedroom!
Donations will go towards a new apartment, as well as furtniture, new wardrobe, and activities for Jake.
UPDATE Oct. 24: JAKE IS HOME.
Jake is stuck in a loop for 10 years. He will get treatment, be healthy, and released back into the streets alone and unmedicated. Then when he does things beyond his control, he is arrested. He is currently being held in a detention centre where I am fighting for his release to a hospital, then he will have a home to finally come home to instead of back onto the same street.
I want to share a little bit of Jake’s story.
I am Jessie, Jake’s little sister. He was my best friend growing up, and remained my best friend until he disappeared in 2014.
He loved basketball and he always wanted to play professionally. He loved video games, cooking, bowling and McDonald’s. He loved the game RuneScape.
He was diagnosed with mental illness in 2011 and needed to be reminded to take his medication. He has never been violent or used drugs at this time. He had a rough childhood including physical abuse from Moms boyfriend.
My Mother had moved in with her new boyfriend and did not want to bring me, Jake, or any of our pets with her. I ended up in the Women’s shelter, but the male shelter was full, so he left our hometown to find a different shelter. Since then I have not heard from him and I did not know what town he went to. She gave our pets away, including our newly adopted puppy Skeeter.
My Mother told me she was going to speak with her friend, who is the police Sargent of our hometown to help us find Jake. This was 10 years ago.
As the years went by, my Mom slowly started to stop talking about Jake. And eventually, started to lie and tell everyone he had been found and he is doing well. She also started to date a new man, and is now raising his children and rarely talking about Jake. She is the type of person who cares about their image to the town.
Since she claims he was “found”, and doing well, our hometown police were no longer looking for him. I have many people contacting me, shocked at Jake’s current state because my Mother had told them he was doing well.
Since leaving town, he was no longer taking his medication. I knew Jake was not ok, because he would have contacted me.
I went through multiple resources to try and find him, but since my Mother claimed he was found and doing well, nothing was working.
Jake is truly an amazing person. I’m so grateful to finally find him and have answers, but I’m also completely devastated at the state he is in.
My plan is to work with the resources provided in Toronto to get him better, back on his medication, and eventually come to my house.
Thank you to everyone who showed Jake kindness, helped him, and made sure he was eating. It’s comforting to know he has not been invisible and suffering alone.
Thank you
❤️
