Bambi's Eye Surgery
Bambi needs your help!
Bambi's quality of life is hindered by the fact that she can't see. Her blindness is entirely due to her untreated diabetes, which caused her eyes to develop thick cataracts. Last week we took Bambi to an eye specialist to see if she was a candidate for cataract removal surgery. As it turns out, she is! And, the sprinkles on top is that her vision can be restored in both eyes between 95-100%!! This is amazing news! She is scheduled to have surgery at Cornell University at the end of September, but we need your help raising the funds to make it happen! Can you help us greatly improve Bambi's quality of life?
Back story:
Bambi came to us as a blind diabetic. She was dumped in a kill shelter in California emaciated (at 4lbs when she should hhave been 9-10lbs), balding, and blind. This is due to the fact that she had diabetes that was left untreated for far too long. The people that dumped Bambi claimed that she was a stray, but it was determined that she had a microchip, and it was linked to the people who dumped her at the shelter. Needless to say, because Bambi was already on death's door, the shelter would euthanize her within a week unless a rescue organization stepped in to save her. That's where our friends at Little Diva Rescue in California stepped in! Julie and Traci pulled Bambi from the shelter, had her medical needs met and were able to get diabetes regulated while also supporting her healthy weight gain. I'd be remiss if I didn't also shout out her foster, Beth, who had experience with diabetic dogs and fostered Bambi until she was healthy enough to fly to New York to live at her forever sanctuary.
