Barefoot 10k a day for a year ♂️
On Sunday 14th July I will once again push myself to the limit by running 10k everyday for 365 days but this time in bare feet.
On the 1st September 2020 I ran and completed 10k a day for a year in aid of mental health and suicide prevention in men. I raised over £25,000 for my local charity Wirral Mind. It was single handedly the hardest thing I have ever achieved in my life. It took a huge toll on my body physically and mentally. Three years on after completing the challenge I have decided to hit the tarmac again and up the antics by going one further doing it all again but this time in bare feet.
For those who know me well know how much my grandparents mean to me. My grandad has been diagnosed with Alzheimers for 9 years. By the time I have completed this challenge it would be 10 years that it’s robbed my Grandad’s and all of my close families lives. How it’s affected my Nan and my mum’s life has broken my heart.
My grandad is house bound with my family by his side. He will have absolutely no clue of the mammoth challenge I am ready to take on. But he is the bravest and strongest man I know. On average people who are diagnosed with Alzheimer’s live between 3 and 11 years after diagnosis.
Do you want to join me in making a difference? I'm raising money in aid of Alzheimer's Society and every donation will help. Thank you in advance for your contribution to this cause that means so much to me.
More information about Alzheimer's Society: At Alzheimer’s Society we’re working towards a world where dementia no longer devastates lives. We do this by giving help to those living with dementia today, and providing hope for the future by campaigning to make dementia the priority it should be and funding groundbreaking research. One in three people born in the UK today will develop dementia in their lifetime. We don’t want anyone to face the realities of dementia alone. That’s why your support is vital.
