Bayou Bully Rescue
Donation protected
Bayou Bully Rescue is a 501(c) (3) non-profit organization located in West Monroe, LA. We pull pitbulls and other bully breeds from high kill shelters where most dogs await their kill date. Our mission is to provide loving homes for many of the homeless and misunderstood "bully" breeds and to help raise awareness of overpopulation.
The overwhelming majority of dogs in the care of BBR are rescued from the Ouachita Parish Animal shelter directly off the kill list. As in most parishes, any pit/pit mix will not be placed for adoption by the shelter, so all such dogs WILL be put down unless rescued by BBR.Profiling may be prohibited at the airport, but it is practiced at the pound with deadly consequences. No dog deserves to die just because of a few bad owners. Thanks to the efforts of the volunteer families at BBR, at least some are given a second chance.

Bayou Bully Rescue dogs are fully vetted including heartworm treatments, spay/neutering, and any other treatments they may need. All are evaluated for behavior with/around other animals and children and overall sociability before being placed for adoption.
In most cases, the adoption fee only partially covers the cost of boarding, medical care, and training associated with saving dogs from the kill list. That means that BBR definitely earns its "non-profit" 501C-3 status! If you would like to help, there are several avenues: you can adopt, foster, or volunteer to assist in events, or simply donate.
