Help Beirut

Lebanon Abroad is an Australian based not-for-profit founded in 2019. We are a group of Australian and Lebanese volunteers with ambitions to strengthen the ties between the Australian and Lebanese cultures and communities. In the wake of the disastrous explosion on 4 August 2020, Lebanon Abroad is focusing all their efforts on fundraising for the victims of this catastrophe in Beirut. There are 220 reported dead. Thousands missing and now over 300,000 homeless. Total buildings have collapsed. East Beirut has been obliterated. The hub of culture, arts, music, nightlife, and history. Heritage villas and apartments have been left destitute. Lebanon was already experiencing its worst financial crisis – with most of the population jobless and the tourism industry that it dearly relies on, non-existent due to Covid-19. The local currency is devalued by around 80%. The Lebanon Abroad efforts are being led by Australians in Beirut, alongside a team of local volunteers. The team have been providing first aid, food, water and medical supplies since the incident. They have assembled 150 care packages that include 1 month supply of essential food items (donated by one generous Australian family). They have assessed over 7 family’s homes and predicaments. Lebanon Abroad want to start emergency repairs on their homes so they are liveable. We would love to reach as many people as we can – that is why every dollar counts!!
