My name is Bianca. I am a first-generation college student and the daughter and granddaughter of Mexican immigrants.
I have been passionate about sexual health ever since I was a young teen. As a Peer Health Educator in high school, I worked to raise awareness of sexual health information and resources on campus. I graduated in 2011 with the goal of pursuing a career as a Health Educator.
After having made the Dean's List every semester of college, I graduated magna cum laude with a Bachelor of Science in Health Education in January of 2016. I worked as a Health Educator and Youth Leadership Coordinator with a non-profit that provides comprehensive sexual health education for 3.5 years. During my time as an Educator, I realized a new dream. I wanted to continue to serve my community as a Nurse Practitioner.
After over a year of hard work achieving a 4.0 on my pre-requisite classes and volunteering almost 900 hours at multiple health and community-based organizations, I have been accepted into the Masters in Nursing program.
At the end of the program, I will be a Registered Nurse. I then plan on becoming a Sexual Assault Nurse Examiner for pediatrics, adolescents, and adults, to treat and support survivors of violence. Shortly after, I will continue my education to become a Family Nurse Practitioner to provide primary care focused on sexual and reproductive health. My dream has always been to give back and take care of people within my community.
With your help, I will be able to pay for my tuition, books, transportation, etc. throughout the next two years of the intensive and full-time program.
