The Big Bike Back
Donation protected
Everyone in our Dulwich Prep London community is pulling together to support children who need our help. Pupils in Year 8 have put their heads together and they've chosen to support the Great Ormond Street Hospital and the fabulous work it does as this year's featured charity.
Our Big Bike Back has 3 parts
Our Big Bike Back has 3 parts
1) Betws to Betws
Our Old Boys are kicking things off on 7th October by cycling a difficuly, hilly 240 miles from Betws-y-Coed in North Wales, where the school was relocated during the war, to our current Alleyn Park site.
2) Pedal Power
During the week, all our pupils will be taking part in biking related challenges at school, from 4 years old and learning how to ride to 13 years old and gritting their teeth through a triathlon.
3) Velocity at the Velodrome
Sunday 17th October is for everyone. Families, pupils, staff and old boys will be taking part in a festival of cycling at the wonderful Herne Hill Velodrome (https://www.hernehillvelodrome.com/) Whatever your level and whatever your feelings about lycra you'll be able to get coaching, take part in a peloton or just sit back and enjoy some tasty treats from one of the stalls while cheering the riders on.
As our featured charity, 90% of all the funds raised will go to GOSH and the other 10% will go to Dulwich Prep London's bursary scheme, which is managed by Caroline Skillings, our bursar. This gives academically gifted local children who would not otherwise be able to afford it access to all the varied opportunities which independent schooling can offer.
