STORIES

We are all made up of stories. Stories of happiness, sadness, triumph and tragedy all play out to make us who we are.  We are sure they are true and permanent and effect not just oneself but also the people around you. The hardest stories are the ones that hit you from blue skies, broad side with the force to change one's narrative. You reevaluate everything that is important to you as you wrestle with the fear of what is to come.

THE CAUSE

Bill Cline is now fighting cancer for a second time. With strength and determination the battle with cancer was won several years ago. But one of the risks he took then in his treatment has now  given him cancer once again.  He is a hard working man and has been self employed most of his life. He is a family man with a wife and two grown children one just having a adorable baby boy.  With limited health insurance the battle to survive financially let alone physically is daunting to say the least. This page is to help a dear friend. All proceeds will go to the medical costs of fighting Bill's cancer.  Please give what you can for a man who has a life time ahead of him. Whatever you do please share!!!  Share this link to where ever you can so we can get the word out.

THE JOURNEY

Bill was diagnosed in 2011 with Large Diffused B Cell Non Hodgkin's Lymphoma, and treated at Moffitt Cancer Center. It is one of many types of Lymphoma, which is a blood cancer.  He had a mass in his groin area that he honestly thought was a hernia. Well, it wasn't.  It took six months of chemo, and twenty straight days of radiation to kill the cancer in his body. The chemo was administered as an outpatient procedure and every three weeks he would drive to Tampa to have his chemo treatment. Because of an allergy the chemo had to be delivered in a 6 hour dose vs. a "normal" 1 1/2 hr dose.  He would do this every 3rd Friday then drive home and then have to go back to Tampa the next day for an immune booster shot.  We were told before he started treatment that if you are going to have cancer this one is the most curable, most treatable.  However, this treatment may cause other cancers in the years to come.  Knowing that, he decided to go ahead and get the proper treatment.  Left untreated it's a very aggressive cancer and would not have had a happy outcome.  With treatment the battle was won and he was labeled "in  remission". The next five years  he returned to Moffitt Cancer Center for blood work with good results every time. In 2016 Bill was considered cancer "free".

The Battle Round Two

The end of May 2018, he wasn't feeling right and went to the ER. He was admitted to the Oncology floor at Cape Canaveral Hospital.  After every test and biopsy, he was diagnosed with Acute Myeloid Leukemia.  This is due to the treatment he received back in 2011.  Cape Canaveral Cancer Institute told us we had 3 options, Moffitt Cancer Center, Holmes Regional (a hospital in Melboure) or Hospice.  Cape Canaveral Cancer Institute doesn't specialize in this form of treatment, since he is an established patient at Moffitt we chose to go there to see what they had to say.  They confirmed the diagnoses, but were much more optimistic than the first group of people.  They said that the benefits far out weighed the risk of this treatment.  Bill went into Moffitt Friday June 22, 2018 just for a bone marrow biopsy they told him he'd be able to leave to come home for his daughters wedding receptions, however, his blood counts had dropped to very danger levels and they sent him upstairs for a blood and platelet transfusion. As that was nearing completion he spiked a fever of 103, that just didn't want to come down.  They sent us down stairs to the emergency room. They pumped him full of antibiotics, and fluids, then admitted him to the Moffitt to begin treatment right away.  As of right now, he is handling the treatment as well as the Doctors have anticipated.
