Myelofibrosis Sucks!
Donation protected
My name is Scott Chaplin, but my friends call me Scottie and I am/was the manager at Pomo Pizzeria in the heart of the Heritage District in Gilbert Arizona. I'm a 41 year old single father with two boys Levi (11) and Jordan (18) and a brand new 3 month old granddaughter Peyton.
42 days ago, I felt tired and dizzy at work so I went to urgent care. Vitals were good but they ran a blood test just in case. I went back to work, went home, felt fine, played video games with my son and went to bed. When I woke up, I had 5 missed calls from urgent care instructing me to immediately go to the ER and everything immediately changed.
I've been diagnosed with Myelofibrosis (MF).

So imagine HIV and Leukemia had an affair...MF would be their illegitimate offspring! (I have always been a sarcastic optimist and I refuse to let my cancer change that). Bottom line is my body can't produce healthy white blood cells to fight infection, or platelets to heal wounds and stop bleeding... so I'm like Bubble Boy without the bubble.
I'm being treated by the Cancer Transplant team at Honor Health in Scottsdale and Ironwood Cancer Research Institute of Gilbert so I am in good hands and I must say that ALL THE STAFF at Mercy Gilbert Hospital have been absolutely wonderful in caring for me.
I've gotten tons of help and support from my girlfriend Samantha, my friends and my family, but unfortunately, a huge part of my struggle to beat this thing is financial.
People who know me would describe me as independent, kind, sarcastic, logical, and compassionate which makes asking for help, instead of giving it, so difficult for me.
I've started the bankruptcy process, since I am unable to work, and the bank repossessed my car last night. I haven't established enough Social Security yet for it to cover my rent and utilities and it won't start for another five months they tell me, so I'm really just in bad shape.
The good news is they found a donor for me from Germany, and over the next six weeks I will be undergoing a painful regiment of tests and procedures to hopefully produce a successful bone marrow transplant.
All I can do now to support my family, is to humbly ask all of you for help. It breaks my heart to not be in a position to provide for my kids and any donation is greatly appreciated.
The reasons I will crush this hurdle...
Jordan and Levi
My girlfriend Samantha
Blynken is the best service animal a guy could ask for.
My sister Jen
My mom Jacqui and Jordan.
And last but not least, Princess Peyton.
Thanks again and God bless!
