Crossing Guard Hero-Bob Nill KCK Memorial
The family of Bob Nill is raising funds in his name for scholarships & educational needs at Christ The King Catholic School in Kansas City KS.
Bob was a retired banker and US Coast Guard veteran working as a school crossing guard for the last five years. He was killed doing his crossing guard job at this school. Bob SELFLESSLY and HEROICALLY pushed two brothers (ages 7 & 11) out of the path of a speeding car as it was driven through a school zone. Miraculously, the boys were not harmed; however, Bob was hit by the car instead and died at the scene in front of the school. Unfortunately, this event was witnessed by these 2 young boys as well as many other children and staff at the school. It is comforting to know that the entire school came together to pray a rosary for Bob as he passed from this world. God is merciful and may Bob Rest In Peace.
Bob has always been a hero to his family. He left behind a loving family that includes 3 sons, 5 grandchildren-and a great-grandson (age 2 months). Bob was an KC Chiefs football and KC Royals baseball fan. Bob was loved by many friends throughout the KCK community and known as a kind, humble, thoughtful, dependable, and selfless man. He would be VERY upset with the title of hero! He seldom asked anything for himself and was always so grateful for kindness from others. This proud and humble man will be missed.
In his name Bob's family hopes his heroic action will not be forgotten. We hope his legacy will be to help inspire children at Christ The King to become heros: To reward those who demonstrate selfless acts of kindness and mercy for others.
