Help Bonbon Lakay Open Their Store in Brooklyn

Donation protected
Bonbon Lakay is getting a permanent home in Brooklyn’s neighborhood of Park Slope! We need your help to get our doors open.

Over the past two years, Bonbon Lakay has been operating out of shared kitchens across NYC, which comes with a long list of limitations and inefficiencies. It's been a struggle. A Bonbon Lakay brick and mortar means we will be working more efficiently, under one roof. We will be able to expand our menu of products and services leading to greater opportunities for everyone from farmers in Haiti to Haitian entrepreneurs and our bakers in NYC where we are currently based.

What problem are we solving? There are many undiscovered amazing food brands based in Haiti using ingredients grown in Haiti by networks of farmers. They need to see that there is a demand for their products. They need to make a living off their hard work. They need consistent access to global markets. Bonbon Lakay offers that.

In addition to our e-commerce, a customer-facing Bonbon Lakay space gives other Black Business Owners that share the same mission an avenue to sell their products, in many cases helping scale their businesses.

How soon do you need the funds? May 31st, in order to open this Summer.

What will the money be used for? We've secured the space and have already started renovations. The money raised will help us 1) Put the finishing touches on the store 2) Cover part of the cost of commercial appliances. These appliances will help us make larger batches of our delicious products and work more efficiently. 3) Cover staff salaries for the training period leading up to our opening.

That’s a lot for our goal we know, but $35,000 will give us the boost we need to get through the finish line. The money we are raising here is just a fraction of our total costs. So give generously!

What will I get for donating? In addition to the satisfaction of knowing you’ve helped an entrepreneur and an entire community get closer to their goals:

Donate $5 and get a free scoop of ice cream or pattie once the store opens, in-store only.

Receive a $5* coupon for every $30 donated to be used in-store or online.

Donate $1,200 or more to reserve space at Bonbon Lakay for a small gathering of 10 people or fewer, lite bites included. Did we mention we have a backyard?!

All Donors will be added to our Donor email list to receive Donor Only promos and invites to exclusive Donor Only events through 2021.

***An email update will be sent out in June. Coupons will only be valid after the store opens. Receive $100 max in coupons to be used online and in-store once the store opens.***

What to expect once the store opens? The Bonbon Lakay store will be a specialty food marketplace with packaged goods displayed for sale, curated lunch and beverage menus, our traditional Haitian snacks, a wider variety of baked goods inspired by Haiti, and fresh ice cream

Our menu will take you through my journey from Haiti to Miami through traditional and some not-so-traditional snacks & dishes.
Our customers will be able to dine in, relax in our cozy backyard or take out. Beautiful Prospect Park is just a few minutes away.
